Long Odds / No Feedback
Anyone considering sending us an idea should be aware that the odds are against your idea being made into a film. That applies to everyone who is trying to make it in Hollywood.
Just as everyone's baby is the cutest child ever born, so too, people think their ideas are going to take the town by storm. Their friends all agree that their idea is brilliant.
The cold truth is that most of the ideas we receive are not good enough to pitch. In a given year, Bob finds about 30 ideas from the website to pitch. Of those, some have come close. One was developed by Meg Ryan.
But we keep looking...
No feedback.
Of all the complaints we hear, it is that we do not explain why we didn't like your idea. Simple arithmetic explains why: it would take 10 minutes per idea to write an email that provides useful feedback. If we receive 20 ideas a day, that means 3 hours, 20 minutes a day devoted to just giving feedback. That is time that we cannot spend reading other ideas.
So the rule is: no feedback.
